Mama Kim’s is another $6 Snack mecca — almost everything on the menu is less than $6. Joel and I met up on a recent weekday for lunch in Kennedy Plaza, which is in downtown Providence. We ordered a beef bulgogi slider ($4), kimchi mandu ($3), veggie panjun ($5) and Korean sweet ma-tang fries ($2).
The Mama Kim’s truck is usually parked in downtown Providence at Kennedy Plaza for the weekday lunch crowd, along with a number of other food trucks. But the Mama Kim’s line is always longest — which is a good sign.
I visited: Mama Kim’s Korean BBQ, a food truck that makes the rounds in Providence and consistently gets rave reviews Yelpers and people we know. They offer a selection of gourmet street food with Korean influence — wraps, sliders, dumplings and vegetable pancakes — and everything is very reasonably priced.
I tried: the beef bulgogi slider, among other things.
Why it stood out: The shaved sirloin is incredibly flavorful, surely a product of thorough marinating, and it’s mixed with mushrooms and stringy green onions. The whole thing’s made especially delicious by the addition of wasabi aioli.
It cost: $4
