- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup lilac blossoms, removed from the stems
- 1 large ice cube
- 2 ounces vodka
- 2 ounces lilac simple syrup
- 1 lilac stem, for garnish
To make the simple syrup, heat the water and sugar in a small pan over medium heat. Once it’s boiling, lower the heat and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Add the lilac blossoms, and simmer 5 minutes longer. Strain the liquid into a jar. Discard the lilacs. Allows to cool on the counter for about 30 minutes. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
To make a drink, place a large ice cube in a low-ball glass. Add the vodka and simple syrup, and stir to combine. Garnish with a lilac stem.
Makes 1 1/2 cups simple syrup.
