Lavender paloma

I really loved the combination of the smoky mezcal with the floral simple syrup. The tartness from the citrus certainly helps as well, and this could work well pretty much any time of year. You know, this is for the hot young professional in you who feels a little too classy for a simple margarita sometimes.

Lavash with oregano, cheese and sesame seeds

I love when restaurants serve soup with nice flat, crispy crackers like this lavash. It keeps you from filling up on a hunk of bread, and they offer a wonderful, salty bite in between slurps. Make this at home to really jazz up your own soup night.

Salted pretzel muddy buddies

This recipe really isn’t far off from the traditional muddy buddies formula. But as we get older, we sometimes tend to crave salt more than we crave sweet. Think of this recipe as a slightly more mature version of the classic. Another great add-in? Peanuts! (Something I thought of a bit too late.)

For a dessert? For a snack? For breakfast? You pick. Watermelon's versatile.

  • 4 slices watermelon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 lime

In a small bowl, combine salt and chili powder.

Sprinkle chili-salt over watermelon. Squeeze lime juice over watermelon. Chow down.
